India Vs Windies 2019/20: Third ODI - Match Preview, Pitch Preview, Weather Forecast, Where To Watch
On Sunday (22nd December), the hosts India and the visiting side Windies will face each other in the third and final ODI of the three-match series at Barabati Stadium (Cuttack).
The Caribbean team took the 1-0 lead in this ODI series after winning the first game at Chennai by eight wickets. India have levelled this series after winning the second match of this series at Visakhapatnam by 107 runs. So, the Cuttack ODI is going to be a do or die match in this series for both the teams.
Indian top-orders are the crucial factor
Undoubtedly, the Indian national cricket team is currently in good form. But they haven't maintained their consistency in limited-overs cricket, like their incredible consistency in Test cricket. The top-order batting is the crucial factor of this Indian team as the top two ODI ranking batsmen ( Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ) both are in this side. Though the middle-order batting is growing up very well, they have to face more tough tests. Among the middle-order batsmen, while Shreyas Iyer is currently in brilliant form, Rishabh Pant has impressed with his batting in this series. Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja are also the crucial factors in this side.
India will miss Deepak Chahar in this Cuttack ODI as he has been ruled out from this ODI due to mild pain in the lower back. Uncapped ODI pacer Navdeep Saini , who recently impressed in the T20Is, has replaced Chahar for this ODI. While Mohammed Shami is taking up a leadership role in this inexperienced bowling line-up, Kuldeep Yadav 's hat-trick in Visakhapatnam ODI gave a huge relief to the side.
However, India's recent fielding is the biggest concern of this side. They have dropped many crucial catches in recent times, which proved game-changers. The Indian fielders need to provide more compact fielding which they have the ability.
Windies have shown their remarkable growth in ODI
The Caribbean cricket team has recently shown their impressive growth in ODI cricket, especially under the captaincy of experienced cricketer Kieron Pollard . They have recently won their first-ever ODI series since 2014 after winning the 3-0 ODI series against Afghanistan in India. In the first ODI of the ongoing series against India, the Caribbean players dominated against the Indian team. Though they failed to maintain that image in the last ODI, this fearless side is capable enough to showcase their dominant attitude once again.
While Shai Hope is very consistent, both as an opener and wicketkeeper, the other batsmen need to learn from it. Meanwhile, the bowlers still need to develop their skills which can help them to pick up quick wickets. The Windies bowlers are surely focusing on destroying the Indian top-order batting line-up quickly.
Weather Forcast
Like the other two ODIs of this series, the Cuttack ODI is also likely to run without rain interruption.
Pitch Condition
In the last two ODIs at this venue, the first batting teams registered the big totals. Even in the last ODI in 2017, the chasing team replied strongly but just failed to win that game. But before these matches, the venue brought the fighting pitches for the batsmen while the pacers got more benefits from the surface.
In India, Star Sports Network will broadcast this day/night ODI live on Sunday (22nd December) from 13:30 IST (01:30 PM).
